Rob Schmidt: What exactly is this plan? She’s got these big corporations involved in all this.
Bensman: Well, the idea is that you have American corporations invest in the economies of these countries and then next month nobody wants to come to the United States anymore. So this is just patently absurd on its face. Because even at the best possible outcome, it would take maybe 20 years or who knows how long it might take for that to take effect. What about tomorrow, next week? The migrants coming into the United States are not going to wait ten or twenty years for something like this to happen. And also, there are migrants coming in from all over the world, 160 countries. Yemen, Pakistan who just came over… people from all over the world. Global poverty sits at about 9.2 percent, 500 or 600 million people in the world. Are we going to nation-build in all of these countries? The whole thing is just absurd.
Schmidt: It is absurd. And it’s so funny that we pay so much attention to these few countries that can have people just walk here. Like you said, why aren’t we spending money all over the world? If the world’s entitled to our money, why don’t we just spread it around?
